Hey, this is Brian from DisableMyCable.com
0:03
There's been a lot of huge announcements coming from Verizon lately. A couple of days ago, we heard about the new Verizon 5G gateway
0:11
that I talked about in my last video. Just yesterday, Verizon announced a huge
0:18
what amounts to a price increase or a speed decrease, depending on how you look at it
0:25
Now, before everyone starts panicking, this applies to new customers only. A lot of people who signed up had a two-year price guarantee
0:35
When I signed up, they said it was going to be 10 years. Not sure if they're going to honor that
0:39
but that's what it said when I signed up. So we'll see what happens. But if you go on the
0:44
Verizon website today, and I'll show it here, you can see the new pricing table for the new plan
0:54
So there's two plans, just like there was before, the 5G Home and the 5G Home Plus
1:00
Now, these tables are very unclear as to exactly what speeds you get and what price you're actually going to pay
1:09
So I'm going to break it down for you. So let's look at the 5G Home first, the cheaper one
1:14
It says 1080p HD video streaming, whereas the Home Plus says Ultra HD 4K video streaming
1:24
So that gives you a little bit of a hint at the speed but it doesn really tell you exactly what it is So I gonna to go over that Now the pricing is equally vague It says you know 35 versus 45 but 60 without discounts and
1:38
80 without discounts. So let's dive in. So if you actually click on more plan information
1:45
in the fine print below, you can get the details on that. It's still a little bit vague
1:54
So I'm going to actually go to a different pricing table that I can get as a user of Verizon 5G Home
2:03
If you are an existing user, log into your account and sort of act like you're going to change plans
2:09
and it will show you a better comparison of the plans. And that's what is on the screen right now
2:15
So this is a little bit more clear. So let's talk about the speeds first
2:20
5G home up to 100 megabits per second download, typical 50 to 85. So that is a huge decrease from
2:32
what they're offering for $50 a month now. The plan I have, which is that plan
2:40
gives 300 megabits per second download, and typically I see 200 to 270, 280 download speeds
2:50
So that's a huge speed decrease. And the pricing let look at that It similar to their current entry plan So what it is is a month regular If you use auto pay it a month You get a discount And if you have a qualifying
3:18
Verizon wireless plan, it goes down to $35 a month if you do that and the auto pay
3:26
So for me, I was paying $50 before with the auto pay
3:31
It would be $50 with this plan, but the speed would be vastly decreased
3:38
Let's say if I want the same speed, I'm getting now the 300
3:42
I would have to go to the 5G Home Plus plan. And that one does offer the 300 megabits per second download
3:49
typical speeds, 85 to 250, which is what I'm seeing. But that one is $70 a month with the AutoPay plan, $80 without, or $45 with AutoPay and a qualifying Verizon wireless plan
4:09
And yeah, just know not all the Verizon plans offer that discount, but it could be as low as $45 if you have the right one
4:16
But, so going to get the same speed, I would have to go from $50 a month to $70 a month, which is a huge increase
4:26
And my cable was $80 a month. So it like approaching the cost of cable which for a lot of people may be not worth switching So it like so many things in the streaming and internet world they start out with low prices and then they jack them
4:44
up. Now again, if you're an existing customer, you probably don't have to worry about this for
4:50
at least two years. And I'm pretty glad I got in when I did because I'm saving $20 a month over
4:59
this. So let's talk about the new Verizon Gateway that was announced a couple days ago. To my
5:05
surprise, some people have been actually able to order those new gateways. No one has received it
5:12
yet as far as I know, but they're on the way. So I'll keep you guys informed as to what happens when
5:17
they arrive and what people think. I'm kind of nervous. I don't even want to ask for the new
5:23
gateway because I'm scared they'll also bump up my plan and change it to one of these worst plans
5:29
that are out now. So I'm going to kind of just wait and see what happens with the pricing and
5:36
whether the gateway really is better. We'll see. And I'll do another video when I get that
5:43
information for you. So that's it. The latest news on the new gateway and on the new Verizon pricing
